Lifestyle

Staying healthy and feeling your best is important at any age and there is significant research which reinforces the importance of lifestyle in healthy ageing and a longer life expectancy.

Catalyst Foundation offers a range of services and information to support and improve the lives of people in South Australia to age well and live as they choose.

As we grow older, we experience an increasing number of major life changes, including career transitions and retirement, children leaving home, the loss of loved ones, physical and health challenges—and sometimes a loss of independence. How we handle and grow from these changes is often the key to healthy ageing. As well as learning to adapt to change, healthy ageing also means finding new things you enjoy, staying physically and socially active, and feeling connected to your community and loved ones.

Catalyst Foundation believes there is no typical older person or ageing journey and our services strengthen healthy, active ageing.

The World Health Organisation defines healthy ageing as having capabilities that enable all people to be and do what they have reason to value (World Health Organisation (WHO) 2015). This includes a person’s ability to:

  • meet their basic needs;
  • learn, grow and make decisions;
  • be mobile;
  • build and maintain relationships; and
  • contribute to society.

At Catalyst Foundation we value, understand and celebrate diversity and difference. Our services look to create or support opportunities for social engagement and participation and our information directories aim to promote and recognise the active participation of all people irrespective of age.

To support this, we offer information and training on Estate Planning, Financial Planning, Tax Help, Digital Literacy and a range of community and sector webinars on topics that impact on lifestyle. Please click here to find out more.

We also offer Directories of services on Housing, Wellness , Aboriginal services, LGBTI+ Rainbow Directory and My Life Choices.

We are committed to providing tailored up-to-date information, including service options, supporting people to navigate complex Government systems such as My Gov, My Aged Care, NDIS and the NBN to name a few, to enable South Australians of all ages to live well and remain engaged in their community.
